Yeah, someone at ABC actually let this tweet air during The Bachelorette last night.
Does this person still have a job? Because, you know, sometimes I end up doing this sort of thing, this tweet curating, because it falls in between social and on-air and so I just take one for the team and do it because I am a TEAM PLAYER and also I DON’T HAVE MUCH OF A LIFE so why not spend MOST OF MY TIME LIVE-CURATING TWITTER FOR TEENAGERS. So I assume the moderator let this one go through deliberately? Because there’s definitely a moderator approving which tweets go on air because if we just pulled in everything, even if we account for pulling in tweets that use the right keywords (eg bachelorette) or hashtags (eg #bachelorette) from twitter without moderating it, you monkeys would put bad words and hate speech all over television and then we’d all get fined a lot of money (and likely fired). So we moderate this stuff like a hawk. And if you are me and you are moderating live-twitter for teenagers, you have even more stringent restrictions. And so! I am so curious! Does anyone know who moderates live-tweets over at ABC? And if there were any repercussions or what they were? JUST CURIOUS.
